May Island from "Thistle B11".

The Isle of May cannot really be claimed as a local island to North Berwick as it is 12 miles away, but by the fast charter boat "Thistle B11" it can be reached in well under an hour.

The diving here is quite spectacular with walls, drop offs, ridges, reefs & gullies that slope down to the seabed where the remains of wrecks can be found.

One area which is well worth a visit is the mill door, an archway in the west cliff face where divers can swim through and pose for the photographers.

The marine life in the area is abundant, a host of colourful anemones, deadmans fingers & urchins clinging to the rocks & ledges. Wrasse, Pollack, Conger & Scorpion fish are to be found in and around the nooks & crannies of the rock formation.

Seals are also your constant companions during your dive while you explore the subterranean wonderland.

There are two landing stages on the island so your surface intervals can be spent ashore & a visitors centre to give you information about the island and its wildlife.

A full day spent here for two, if not three dives will certainly remain in your memory & your log book as a magical island for diving.

Thistle B11  will carry your group and all your gear in

comfort & safety to this site.

Hot & cold drinks, snacks served onboard, plus toilet facilities.
